About

A patient, curious look at the unclothed life.

The Naked Norm is a publication and podcast about naturism — the simple, stigma-laden practice of being unclothed in social settings. We exist to make the topic ordinary again.

What you'll find here

We publish three kinds of writing: guides for people new to naturism (questions you might be too embarrassed to Google), articles on the science, culture, and lived experience of social nudity, and reviews of the resorts, beaches, and gear that make a naturist life easier. The podcast — Naked Norm, on Spotify — is a weekly companion.

About Naked Norm

"Naked Norm" is the editorial voice of this publication. Every article, every podcast episode, every newsletter goes out under that name. Norm is a persona — an unhurried, slightly curious, occasionally funny stand-in for the editor who wants to keep their day job and their personal life separate from the work here. Norm exists because the topic still carries enough cultural baggage that a gentle pseudonym helps the writing land where it's supposed to land: with the readers who need it.

The podcast hosts

The Naked Norm podcast is co-hosted by two AI personas — Naked Norm and Sun-kissed Sophie. Their voices and personalities are generated; the topics, the research, the editorial direction, and the writing are the work of the publisher behind Norm. We're transparent about this for two reasons: we think you deserve to know how the sausage is made, and we believe AI co-hosts let us cover ground (long-form research, careful interviews, multilingual sources) we couldn't otherwise.

Every episode is rooted in a written article you can read here on the site. Where an episode exists, we link to the original piece. Where an article exists, we link to the episode.

Editorial principles

  • Curiosity over advocacy. We're not here to convert anyone. We're here to make naturism understandable.
  • No nudity in our images. The site is intentionally PG. Naturism is about a relationship with your body, not a visual product.
  • Sources, not vibes. When we cite science, we cite the paper. When we review a resort, we say whether we've actually been.
  • Honest about money. The site is not currently monetised — no affiliate links, no advertising, no sponsored content. We never review something we haven't tried (and we say so when we haven't), and we never accept payment for a positive review. Read our full transparency note for what we may do in future.
