FAQ

Common questions, plain answers.

Is naturism the same as nudism?

In practice, they're used interchangeably. "Naturism" leans European and tends to imply a connection to nature; "nudism" leans American. Same essential idea: being unclothed, not for sex, in social settings.

Is it sexual?

No. The defining principle of naturism is non-sexual social nudity. Naturist clubs, beaches, and resorts have strict expectations: no staring, no photography without consent, no sexual behaviour in shared spaces.

Do I have to be in great shape?

Genuinely no. Naturist spaces are some of the most body-accepting environments most people will ever encounter. Every body is there.

What if I get aroused?

It's an extremely common worry and almost never an actual problem. Even when it happens, the social convention is simple: take a swim, sit down, change position. Nobody pays it any attention.

Is it legal?

In designated places (clubs, resorts, marked beaches), yes — almost everywhere. Public nudity outside those areas is regulated and varies by country and state. Stick to designated spots and you'll be fine.

Can I go alone?

Absolutely. Many people start their naturist life as a solo visitor at a beach or resort. It's often easier than going with a friend who's also nervous.
