Portland's WNBR has grown to become the largest such event in the world, regularly attracting between 8,000 and 10,000 riders. The route winds through downtown Portland in the evening, with strong community and city support. The atmosphere is festive and Pacific-Northwest-eccentric — costumes, body paint, music — and the after-parties at venues across the city continue late. Free, peaceful, family-tolerant though not family-aimed.
