The Best Single Book About Modern Naturism: Naked Wanderings' Guide
Belgian naturist couple Nick and Lins have visited more naturist places than almost anyone alive. Their book is the modern naturism handbook the genre has been waiting for.
Nick and Lins of Naked Wanderings have spent the better part of a decade travelling full-time as naturists, visiting hundreds of resorts, beaches, clubs, and events across dozens of countries. They’ve reviewed almost all of them honestly on their website and have collected the resulting wisdom into a book that, surprisingly, didn’t really exist before they wrote it: a modern, practical, friendly handbook for naturism aimed at the actual newcomer.
What it is
A self-published book covering the full arc of naturism: what it is, why people do it, how to start, what to expect at your first beach or resort, how to handle partners, families, travel, body image, and the whole range of practical questions newcomers ask. About 200 pages, available in paperback and Kindle.
Why it’s the right first read
Most existing naturism literature falls into two camps: dated mid-20th-century philosophical tracts and academic studies. Neither serves the modern curious newcomer well.
The Naked Wanderings guide does, for several reasons:
- It’s written by actual practitioners. Nick and Lins have been to almost every venue they describe. Their travel reviews are widely considered the most honest in the community.
- It addresses the awkward questions head-on. The arousal question. The “what if I see someone I know” question. The “is it sexual” question. They handle all of these with practical directness rather than evasion.
- It’s modern in voice. Not old-fashioned, not preachy, not overly philosophical. Reads more like a really good travel guide than like a manifesto.
- It works as both intro and reference. First-time naturists read it cover to cover; experienced ones use it as a chapter-by-chapter resource.
Practical tips
- Buy the Kindle version if you’ll be travelling — fits your Paperwhite, easy to reference on the go.
- The paperback is good for naturist clubs as a lending-library staple. Many already do.
- Read the “Talking to Your Partner” chapter before bringing it up with your partner. It’s the most useful single section.
Verdict
The single best book to give someone you want to introduce to naturism. We have multiple copies and lend them out routinely.
